Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo has defined why he’s solely co-written a handful of songs throughout his time within the metallic giants.
The 60-year-old, who joined the chart-topping San Francisco band in 2003, says in a brand new interview with Toby Morse that his position is to help longer-serving members James Hetfield (vocals/guitars), Lars Ulrich (drums) and Kirk Hammett (guitars) and respect their approach of working.
“I’m becoming a member of Metallica, and these guys write wonderful songs, and I’m simply not going to all of the sudden insert myself into [it],” Trujillo says (through Final Guitar).
“I wish to preserve folks pleased and cozy. My position is all the time to help what’s wanted for the crew. I’m writing a music with the blokes, I’m contributing that approach.”
The bassist then describes the way in which Metallica write, saying it’s usually a collaborative course of with each member within the room.
