-

In reference to my want to completely sustain with the J-pop trade, I’m planning on doing a weekly round-up of any new releases which have caught my ear. A few of these could have been coated on the weblog already, however my hope is that this may turn into a one-stop store for anybody serious about what’s new in J-pop.

With that in thoughts, right here’s the place you are available: I’m one individual with one set of musical preferences, so please embed another new J-pop tracks you’ve loved within the feedback so we are able to get a fuller spectrum every week.

*And identical to I do with my critiques, I’ll wait till full variations of songs can be found earlier than posting them on this round-up. It will principally apply to Johnny’s teams, who nonetheless restrict nearly all of their YouTube uploads to shorter, edited variations.

2025 Index: Dec 29 – Jan 11 // Jan 12 – Jan 18 // Jan 19 – Jan 25 // Jan 26 – Feb 1 // Feb 2 – Feb 8 // Feb 9 – Feb 15 // Feb 16 – Feb 22 // Feb 23 – Mar 1 // Mar 2 – Mar 8

Ado – Bouquet For Me

Fairly punchy and anthemic. I like this one.

Aina The Finish – Peerless Flowers

It’s all the time good to listen to her voice.

AsIs – Tejo o Kowase! (track of the week!)

I’ve by no means heard of this group earlier than however this track impressed me. I like the punchy brassiness of it.

ATARASHII GAKKO! – One Coronary heart

They’re as much as their quirky methods once more. This isn’t for me, however I’m positive it’s for somebody.

East Of Eden – IKIZAMA

A strong rock track with nice vocals.

Fantastics – Funktastic! (track of the week!)

I like this 90’s funky home sound. The track itself could possibly be higher, however general it’s a ton of enjoyable.

GNJB – LLL

This can be a very slick, subdued sound for them. I favor them at their extra adventurous, however the track is good. It feels very Showa period.

King & Prince – Coronary heart (track of the week!)

This sounds extra like Koi Furu Tsukiyo ni Kimi Omou than we’ve heard in years and I’m contemplating {that a} victory. The video can be numerous enjoyable.

Man With A Mission – Vertigo (track of the week!)

Man With A Mission are lastly again with a brand new EP! That is very strong rock monitor. I like the verses, particularly.

OWV – Swish

I completely love the primary thirty seconds. The remainder is fairly good however not precisely what I’d hope to listen to from the manufacturing. Then, the “swish swish” half is downright terrible.

Ryosuke Yamada – Purple

That is at the least extra attention-grabbing than his different solo tracks, nevertheless it’s nonetheless extra posturing than track if that is sensible. I just like the bigness of the refrain, although.

Sekai No Owari – Kohaku

I like this band a lot, however I’m upset that this can be a reasonably muted ballad. It’s well-written, however not what I like most about their music.

SennaRin – Reviver-Lv.1007

A slower burn for her.

ukka – Journey To The Sky

Quirky and enjoyable.

Wolf Howl Concord – BAKUON

I like this extra in principle than execution. I want we heard extra of their vocals. It’s positively a wierd monitor.

XG – Is This Love

I wrote about this right here. I preferred it alright.

KIX-S – Mou Ichido Tenderness (1993)

There’s a sentiment and energy to early-90’s J-pop that simply can’t be replicated. KIX-S have been a wonderful feminine duo of the period and this can be a complete banger.
