On August 1, 2025, Karmacoda, the San Francisco pair of producer Brett Crockett (aka B.) and bassist/multi-instrumentalist Eric Matsuno, dropped ‘Virtually Not possible to Please’ on Sola Musa Music. For 20 years, they’ve bounced between electronica, chill, R&B, and rock, grabbing consideration from NOTION, Magnetic Magazine, and Hotpress, plus spins on NPR and RTÉ 2XM. Their awards shelf boasts a Platinum Hermes Inventive Award for the ‘Lo-Fi Lady’ video, a Gold Unglued Music Video nod, and three Silver Davey Awards. Now, they’re joined by Megan Slanker, a Bay Space singer with a gritty, soulful voice, taking their sound in a brand new path.
‘Virtually Not possible to Please’ faucets into the perfect of 90s and 2000s Soul Pop, blended with modern R&B grooves and Megan Slanker’s highly effective vocals. Co-created by Slanker and Crockett, the monitor’s heat manufacturing and resounding supply echo Sabrina Carpenter or Chappell Roan, stuffed with ardour with out the filler. It showcases Slanker’s abilities, sharpened through the years together with her band The Wreckage.
Brett Crockett shared, “I aimed for a contemporary R&B and Soul track with an electronica edge and a nod to the previous. We known as up our good friend Megan Slankard, a vocalist and musician who dug the sound. She wrote the lyrics, sang lead, and introduced a tremendous emotional depth. It’s about somebody in a tricky relationship admitting she’s ‘virtually unattainable to please.’”
