Drawing their moniker from an outdated Grand Funk Railroad tune circa 1975, Austin, Texas quintet Imply Mistreater sound extra like they have been birthed in 1985 on the top of the US steel renaissance. They not solely have the basic riffs, they’ve one helluva a vocalist in Janiece Gonzalez, who has the vary of Leather-based Leone (Chastain) and the depth of John Bush (Armored Saint, Anthrax, and so forth.). Her bandmates—Jon Gibson (bass), Joaquin Ridgell (drums), Quinten Lawson (guitars), Alex Wein (guitars)—present the punchy, muscle-car steel to accompany her pipes on the gloriously enjoyable and retro Do or Die, the band’s second full-length.
