Scintilla (World Premiere) — Choreography by Justin Rapaport

Music by Flawed Mangoes, Lloyd Vaan, Alvedon and Ludwig van Beethoven, carried out by Paavali Jumppanen

Choreographer Justin Rapaport describes his inspiration in an announcement. “Winter solstice, limitless evening… really easy to lose oneself in that darkness. Justin is a contract dance artist. Rodney is a Haitian-Canadian motion artist whose work fuses jazz and up to date dance. He was the winner of the 2019 Canadian Stage Award for Route, and has debuted world premiere items with Toronto Dance Theatre, Tapestry Opera, and Toronto Metropolitan College.

A Sonata of Shadows (2023) — Choreography by Hanna Kiel

“This composition delves into the aftermath of the solstice, inspecting its connection to our lives and the teachings we derive from it. There are moments when it seems like this darkness won’t ever dissipate. Nonetheless, as within the pure cycle, daylight inevitably returns. This piece explores the profound nuances of those darkish moments, delving into the sensation that they could persist indefinitely,” says choreographer Hanna Kiel.

Dora award successful choreographer Hanna Kiel is a founder and creative director of Human Physique Expression, and a resident choreographer at Canada’s Ballet Jorgen.
